The New England coastline, in Maine particularly, is a jagged toe-stubbing seaweed-slipping jumble of slippery boulders, because of which there are infinite microcosms to explore as a photographer. On this summer afternoon I went shooting coastline in Acadia National Park, and deliberately went to places that I wouldn't think would be interesting only to find this scene with this wonderfully charactered piece of driftwood waiting to be imaged.
