Maine, finally starting to look like winter after a belated start. Found some great atmosphere yesterday after the snow fell and it warmed up enough to steam, and here's more scary frozen lake action where it looks like it had melted holes in the surface only to find they were puddles on at least 6 inches of clear ice (clear= fast freezing), but every few feet I had to stop and sweep some snow away to check again to see if the ice was still there. I've never fallen through and so help me, I never will, and have gone over the contingency plans in my mind just in case, and watched enough Bear Grylls to think I'll know what to do. Forget that stripping down and making a fire bit though! Whatever, I digress.
